365 Q&A #29: Hello Darkness My Old Friend
When it comes to darkness and writing about it I tend to go really dark, but this time I chose to go the lighter route and I'm very pleased with what I came up with. Today's writing prompt went like this:
Although you're obscured from the sun, the air is thick and warm on your bare skin. You cannot hear each other over the deafening rush of water, so you make faces and gestures in the semidarkness, your backs pressed against the rock. What happens next?
He jumps down into the darkness below with a kur-plunk. He expects you to follow suit. It takes a while but you muster up the courage. You descend into the darkness. When you land you fall into the water and rise up to meet his face. You are in awe.
When you look around you see a neon light show up against the cave walls and the water surrounding you. It is the most spectacular thing you have ever seen. Life has gotten in the way and you've forgotten just how magical the can be. He has reminded you of that; he has set fire to the passionate explorer that has been dormant inside you for quite some time. He has shown you the way; the path to your awakening.
