365 Q&A #18: Spring

Although it is now officially Spring it sure doesn't feel like it. I'm keeping warm today covered under blankets and listening to some of my favorite music. Speaking of music, today's writing prompt incorporates two of my favorite things: music and writing. Looking back at this prompt as I type my response, I realize I read it incorrectly. I actually ended up listening to The Four Seasons in it's entirety. Whoops! Anyway, today's prompt is:

Spring has sprung. Listen to Antonio Vivaldi's Spring from The Four Seasons and write what comes to mind as you do it.

Below is what came to mind when I listened to the entire symphony.

Spring: A fancy dinner party, like a scene from the Titanic or Gatsby. This is the big dance number. These characters may even be from the late 1800s. This is a formal dance where the main characters first meet.

Summer: The final showdown between two rivals is coming. The battle begins and no one can stop it. It's a very fast paced dance of swords. The swords dance with the music. The protagonist is killed. Their young lover discovers their body and runs away. They are being chased by their dead lover's killer.

Autumn: The lover has now blended in with another high class society, evading their captor. We find our character at another formal dance. Our character finds and falls in love with their captor's child. They dance the night away until the captor shows up and reveals our character's true identity. The chase resumes.

Winter: The child of the captor tries to prevent her lover's (our character's) death but is caught in the cross hairs and is ultimately killed by her father (the captor). Before our character is has the chance to run to their lover's side they are killed. The captor is left alone. He cradles his child's body. Years later the captor is found roaming the streets. He is a disheveled version of his former self. Covered in rags and talking to himself, this man is unrecognizable. He is no longer the man who lived a life of vast riches. Winter arrives and unleashes a brutal blizzard. The captor is later found dead face down in a pile of snow.
